This book was an excellent sequel to The Child Taker and the third in the Alec Ramsay series. I’ve read all three and have just downloaded and look forward to reading the fourth book, Frozen Betrayal. Mr. Jones is an excellent writer and does a fantastic job of developing his characters. His stories move along at a very fast pace and are never boring – they also are not for the faint of heart.I do enjoy some of the British sayings that are unfamiliar in the States, such as: “he’s lost the plot” which I think would translate to “he’s lost his mind”. One I’m not sure of is “are you taking the piss?” – the way it’s used it might translate in the States to “are you putting me on”.
There was a twist near the end of this book that totally had me – wait for it. . . . “gobsmacked!” (another British saying that we love in my family and use often).

Read the Soft Target series first and then stumbled on this one... What a read - this book grabs you at page 2 and does not let you go until you turn the last page and finally take a breath.
For all of you that like their crime novels with a twist (or 15) grab this amazing read and be prepared to be immersed. Please say hello to your wife and kids before you start because they may wonder where you have gone....
This book was too graphic and there was way too much violence and told in graphic detail. I have liked his other books because they did not dwell on the violence as much
Great series of books. Must read in order of writing.
Please do not shot this series. One of the most enjoyable in ages. Believable plots and stunning caracters. Make sure you are not tired when you start reading these books because you will beup until,the very end! Good stuff!
But not unlike watching a car wreck, I have no one to blame but myself for continuing to read. Filled with Brit colloquialism, it’s a reality that makes you feel like you are there. Bravo, and (sadly?) I can’t wait for the next book in series!
First book of the series I have read. Flawed characters and some surprising twists in the plot. I will now start at the beginning but looking forward to it. Well done Mr Jones.....
Do NOT skip a page or you will miss something. Packed with action, bad guys, good guys,and a few that cross the lines in either direction. Love the interactions of the characters and the way everything comes together. Enjoy!
